Overview

Position Title: Stock Accountant
Location: Thika Road, Agri park East, Warehouse no. 8
Salary: KES 30,000 per month
Department: Finance & Accounts
Reports To: Finance Manager / Chief Accountant

Role Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Stock Accountant to join our finance team. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in stock accounting within a retail environment, strong SAP system knowledge, and proven experience managing inventory with over 200 SKUs. The role is responsible for ensuring accurate inventory records, stock reconciliations, valuation, reporting, and supporting overall inventory control processes.

Responsibilities

Maintain accurate inventory and stock accounting records.
Perform daily, weekly, and monthly stock reconciliations.
Monitor stock movements, adjustments, transfers, and write-offs.
Reconcile physical stock counts against system records and investigate variances.
Prepare inventory-related journal entries and financial reports.
Ensure accurate stock valuation and compliance with accounting standards.
Generate and analyze inventory reports to support management decision-making.
Work closely with procurement, warehouse, and retail operations teams to ensure inventory accuracy.
Monitor slow-moving, obsolete, and damaged stock and recommend appropriate actions.
Support internal and external audits by providing inventory-related documentation and reports.
Ensure data integrity and proper inventory management within SAP.

Requirements and qualifications

Additional education

Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or a related field.
Professional accounting qualification (CPA, ACCA, or equivalent) is an added advantage.

Experience

Additional experience

Minimum 2–3 years' experience in stock accounting or inventory accounting.
Proven experience working in a retail environment.
Experience managing and accounting for inventory with more than 200 SKUs.
Hands-on experience using SAP ERP systems.
Strong understanding of inventory controls, stock valuation, and reconciliation processes.
