Social Exclusion and Gender Analysis Consultant

Overview

VSO Kenya will undertake a Rapid Social Exclusion and Gender Analysis (SEGA) to support VSO work and identify key gender and inclusion development issues and barriers in Inclusive Education and Education in Emergencies.

Responsibilities

Demonstrable experience in participatory research, appraisals, and assessments which includes skills in all or at least more than half of these areas:
• Qualitative and Quantitative research
• Vulnerability assessment
• Power analysis
• Gender and gender analysis
• Livelihoods and Resilience
• Economics for equality
• Stakeholder mapping
• Systems mapping
• Systems approaches
• Theories of change
• Transformational processes

Experience in working with both I/NGOs, Government, public representatives, political and community leaders, duty bearers, and general community in the target locations.

Proven experience and deep understanding of social inclusion and gender, resilience and social accountability

Excellent research, documentation and reporting skills.

Desirable Criteria:
• Strong facilitation skills.
• Experience of working in international development and education in emergency contexts.
• Understanding of the thematic priorities in relation to study which includes: inclusive education, social accountability, gender and employability and entrepreneurship.
• Being up-to-date on current trends in international development, gender issues and approaches to tackling poverty and inequality
• Team-oriented, possess a positive attitude and works well with others

Education

• Bachelor’s degree.

Additional education

1. Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences: gender studies, development studies, sociology and other relevant qualifications and training.
