Send a Cow Kenya (SACK) is looking for a full time project coordinator to lead an effective and coherent project team to deliver the Enterprising Migori Project efficiently and effectively in line with the project goals and aims, SAC’s Vision, Mission, and Values.

The successful candidate will provide leadership in line managing the project team, capacity building, designing and implementing appropriate interventions within the enterprising Migori project with the objective of building viable community driven agribusiness enterprises. The project Coordinator reports to the Programme and partnerships Manager Send a Cow Kenya.

Responsibilities

Purpose of the job

1. To lead an effective and coherent project team to deliver the Enterprising Migori Project efficiently and effectively in line with SAC’s Vision, Mission, and Values.

Key Responsibilities

1. To line-manage and provide leadership to the project team by supporting and developing all members of the team and partners for effective project delivery
2. To ensure all the project activities are properly planned, adequately resourced and implemented to a high standard according to agreed milestones, timelines, budgets, donor requirements etc. and in line with Send a Cow’s development approaches.
3. To ensure effective representation of SACK within the County of implementation, keeping clear, efficient and effective communication between the project, stakeholders, SACK SMT and where applicable donors
4. To support building of SACK and SACK partners’ staff capacity through coordinating trainings, mentoring and providing coaching and advice to deliver a quality project with timely and efficient budget utilization.
5. To build capacity and raise competency and commitment level of the programme support team members (Peer farmers, community health volunteers, Government extension Agents, etc.) through monitoring programme quality and by coordinating training opportunities and developing mentoring strategies.
6. In collaboration with the SMT ensure a strong monitoring and reporting system is in place that includes field level visits, annual review process, timely information and practical experience sharing with quality and timely reporting to all stakeholders in line with SAC’s development strategy and approaches
7. To ensure vertical and horizontal project contacts and relevant networks are developed and maintained with SACK, project beneficiaries, local government and other stakeholders for visibility, experience sharing, information exchange, joint project planning, monitoring and evaluation
8. To play timely and active role as a member of the SAC Projects Management Team in developing policies, plans and Strategic Guidelines and decision making in line with send a Cow’s Values, Mission, Cornerstones and Christian Ethos.
9. Attend and contribute to SACK staff meetings and SAC All staff meetings when required.
10. Undertake other assignments and delegations given by Programmes and partnerships Manager and/or the Country director as required

Relationships

The position is based at Migori town – Migori County and involves travel to Kakamega and other parts of the country as needed.

Education

• Bachelors degree

Additional education

Essential

• Bachelors degree (Bsc or BA) in social sciences , Agricultural Extension, Food Security or other related fields from a recognized University

Desired

• MA in Rural Social Development

Experience

Essential

• At least three years’ relevant experience after bachelor’s degree in
  programme and/or project
• Experience of developing and maintaining effective project with monitoring and evaluation systems in placemanagement
• Experience of project proposal and budget development and effective report writing Understanding donor financial requirements and grant compliance management including expenditure and budget variance monitoring as well as adherence to specific grant condition
• Experience of working with and giving advice to partner organizations and review of project information prepared by partners and providing feedback and follow up
• Experience of developing people through line management, supporting, motivating, coaching and mentoring of staff with different discipline, cultural, religious and gender background
• Experience of organizing and conducting trainings and workshops at different levels
• Experience of learning from practice through programme monitoring, reviewing and evaluating.
