NATIONAL CANCER CONTROL PROGRAM COMMUNICATIONS PROGRAM OFFICER

Overview

Blume Africa is recruiting a Program Officer on behalf of their client in the health sector

Responsibilities

The program officer will contribute to the increased community, media, and health provider engagement in cancer prevention and control by:
1. Providing leadership to the Cancer Advocacy Coordination and Social Mobilization
Technical Working Group and liaison with MOH Health Promotion and Communications
department
2. Establishment, design, manage and update a National Cancer Control Program website
3. Work with relevant stakeholders to spearhead the dissemination of the National Cancer Communication Strategy and the new National Cancer Control Strategic Plan.

4. Provide quarterly reports and feedback as appropriate for the website, communication, and ACSM TWG as required
5. Undertake monitoring of cancer communication activities, managing social media
handles and information, verify the accuracy of IEC materials in circulation, and provide
capacity development and media support as necessary
6. Contribute to Monitoring and Evaluation and Learning strengthening processes as
regards cancer communications-documentation of cancer communication targets, reporting, and quality assurance processes
7. Contribute to the development and updating of cancer IEC interactive learning products including videos, flyers, IEC, and success stories for dissemination
8. Develop innovative communication strategies including storytelling for the purposes of cancer community awareness creation.

9. Support deliberations and ensure effective results-driven stakeholder engagement
processes to improve public awareness of cancer
10. Support the development and dissemination of opinion pieces, and content creation and act as NCCP liaison with media under the guidance of the Head, of the National Cancer Control program.

11. Contribute to the development and update of cancer e-learning materials for the NCCP and other relevant documents in line with best practices and any other tasks as may be assigned

Additional education

Preferably a degree in the field of Mass Communications, or other relevant fields

Experience

Additional experience

• Extensive experience (at least 2 years) in developing, designing, producing and publishing
  communication products including website development and management;
  Proven experience in developing communication strategies, and evaluations in the areas of health
• Strong experience and track record of development and delivery of creative internal and external
  communications;

Additional skills

• Demonstrated a high level of professionalism,
• A team player and the ability to work independently and in high-pressure situations under tight deadlines;
• Excellent communication and written skills in English
