SALES ADMIN- FLOWERS

Overview

Coordinate all sales, marketing, Procurement and technical aspects and act as the link between the company and customers.

Reports to Nairobi Manager (Afrex /Njotland) and or to the MD of Afrex in Johannesburg SA.

Responsibilities

• The Employee will be expected to manage all aspects of the marketing and procurement of fresh cut flowers but not only limited to these products.
• Maintain good relationship with existing farms while finding new farms and sources of product for export.
• The Employee will be expected to manage all logistic aspects for the successful export of the above flowers I.e. most efficient routes to destinations, booking space via the freight forwarders. Temperature control from JKIA to destination, quick transfer of information to clients to mention a few of the aspects required in successfully exporting perishable products.
• Procurement accounting -the employee will ensure that he receives weekly update of product prices from growers. The
• Employee will further ensure that the Employer’s price is updated on a weekly basis to reflect current product prices as furnished by growers. The Employee will further ensure that amounts paid to growers by the Employer correspond with prices quoted by growers on weekly basis.
• The Employee will be responsible for quality control of produce received at the nominated freight forwarder. Using information received from Njotland Quality control, the Employee will have the products forced/vacuum cooled if need-be and update the growers as to arrival temperatures and other quality issues.
• The Employee will be responsible for allocating stocks received to specific shipments to be forwarded to specific clients. The Employee will ensure that boxes in all shipments are labelled with the correct client’s codes and that the clients are pre-advised of the shipments by e-mail.
• The Employee will ensure that the correct rates charged by forwarders/airlines are used in pricing structure of the Employer. The Employee will further ensure that the rates charged to the Employer by its freight forwarding agents are correct, prior to payment being made to the freight forwarding agents.
• The Employee will be responsible for re-negotiating and where possible improving airline freight rates with the Employer’s freight forwarder.
• The Employee will be responsible for the recovery of claims.
• The Employee will be tasked with costing and setting up the process of transporting fresh produce to the Employer’s clients by air/sea.
• The Employee will be trained on the necessary aspects of the Pastel accounting system.
• The above job description is not exhaustive and may be amended or amplified from time to time by the Employer. It shall not preclude the Employer from instructing the Employee to carry out any other reasonable task(s), which may fall outside the parameters of the job description.
• Employee would report to the Nairobi Manager (Afrex /Njotland )and or to the MD of Afrex in JHB.

Additional education

• Diploma/degree in Agriculture and Business related courses
• Excellent Computer skills especially in Microsoft office applications. Knowledge on ERP will be an added advantage
• Over 25 of age.

• Over 1 years’ experience in horticulture industry.
