Printer - 3 Positions

Overview

The Star Publication Limited is one of Kenya’s leading newspaper publishers that produces The Star Newspaper. We are looking to fill the position of a Printer within the Company.

Printer

Reporting to the Chief Printer, the holder of this position shall be in charge of using and maintaining printing presses in good working conditions, they will be in liaison with mechanical & electrical technicians.

Responsibilities

• Meet set targets on newsprint wastes, press efficiency and product quality by monitoring production throughout the run and making any adjustments as required.
• Perform corrective & preventive maintenance whenever assigned and keep a clean & well-organized work area.
• Able to work with minimal supervision in a fast paced and high stress environment.
• Adhere to OSHA & NEMA rules and regulations & any other safety rules & standards as may be prescribed.
• Collect data before & after production to use in generation of daily production reports & transmission of the same to relevant recipients.
• To operate equipment and use all inputs in a cost effective way thus contribute to the group’s goal of managing cost.

Additional education

• Diploma in printing and factory management or related field.

Experience

Additional experience

• At least 2 years’ experience as a Printer

Additional skills

• Flexible with strong coordinating and communication skills
• Good reporting skills
• Ability to work under pressure and for long hours
• Ability to multi task
• Ability to keep abreast of the latest trends in printing and information and seize opportunities
• Impeccable personal integrity
• Technical knowledge on the printing press
