Radio Africa Limited is one of Kenya’s leading media houses with both top national and top niche radio stations in Kenya and we are looking for a candidate with diverse taste of music and passionate about music, well organized and trainable Music Scheduler.

Music Scheduler

Reporting to The Program Controller, the job holder is mandated to coordinate music research process, schedule music as per the music policies and guidelines.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

• Edit and schedule daily music log for the designated station.
• Ensure that each hour of music scheduled adheres to the agreed rules for music.
• Ensure that the production elements like sweepers, promos and jingles fit best to the mood and tempo of the music flow.
• Conduct regular audits of the database and scheduling software parameters.
• Maintain the database of the stations music in good order archiving no essential and non-active songs.
• Always have a backup copy of the stations music library archived.
• Liaise with the research and production teams in the preparation of the music lists for weekly face-to-face music research.
• Attend music meeting ensuring that most recent play-list and research results are available for consideration and that all songs to be considered for addition be available. At the end of the meeting distribute the new play-list to station PC and GPC.
• Source new music for adding to station library, play-list or music universe through researching of music charts, station play-lists, trade publications and internet sites, TV shows and monitoring the competition.
• Pre-listen and rate all new releases
• Regular monthly audit of the music research tests including visiting the field to check on research assistants conducting studies. Weekly review of research sampling and reporting anomalies and suspicious results.
• Institute and maintain the posting of research results on to the individual record entries so that all records carry their most recent audience research numbers in their information.
• Source new local music through liaising with record companies, producers, promoters and artists.
• Load vetted new music to Library before the weekly music meeting.

Answer all listener enquiries on music played.

Additional education

• Bachelor’s degree in Mass Communication/ Journalism
• Diploma in journalism where there is no degree in journalism

• 1 years’ experience in a similar position in a busy media house.
• An excellent writer
