Overview

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:

To assess risk of joining and existing members in order to ensure minimum exposure to the organization.

Responsibilities

POSITION: MEDICAL UNDERWRITER

DATE: 19TH FEBRUARY 2020

TERMS: PERMANENT

LOCATION: NAIROBI

REPORTS TO: SUPERVISOR-MEDICAL UNDERWRITER

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:

• Conduct risk assessment for corporate clients and to assess risk of joining and existing members.
• Conduct risk assessment for Retail clients, both new and existing clients.
• Underwrite prospective clients who have attained the age of 44 years and above
• Pre and post underwriting of clients who have attained the age of 65 years and above.
• Enrolling clients with chronic diseases in the Health promotion clinic for follow up and ensure compliance.
• Underwrite clients enhancing benefits to higher limit(Upgrade)
• Vetting of membership to eligible members to help AAR achieve and increase coverage.
• Meeting clients to discuss change of terms and conditions when risk change three months prior to membership renewal.
• Revenue from underwriting
• Attending Underwriting meetings once a week
• Resolving, making decisions and communicating on queries relating to Underwriting.
• Customer satisfaction level.
• Customer retention.
• All underwriting must be done within 2 days of receipt.
• Underwriting of medical evaluations
• Health Promotion- Helping corporate members to be involved in health preventive initiatives through conducting of customized health education programs.
• Currently involved in the new system (EO2) implementation.

DUTIES INCLUDE:

• Assessing of risk of joining and existing members.
• Conduct risk assessment for corporate and Retail clients.
• Underwrite prospective clients who have attained the age of 45 years and above and communicating renewal terms
• Pre/post underwriting of clients who have attained the age of 65 years and above and communicating renewal terms
• Underwrite clients enhancing cover to higher limits, those making lateral movement from corporate to Retail membership and vise versa
• Enrolling clients with chronic diseases in the chronimed clinic for follow up
• Discussion with clients with chronic diseases on compliance.
• Attending U/w meetings every Tuesdays.

Education

• Bachelor’s degree

Additional education

Graduate with a degree preferably in Nursing

Experience

LEVEL OF EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

• At least 3 years relevant experience
• Knowledge and experience in Health Care Management
• Mature, team player with supervisory skills.
• Professional Qualifications: ACII or IIK is preferred.
• Proficient in the use of Microsoft office suite and packages.
