STEMpower Inc. is an international, not-for-profit, non-governmental organization registered in the USA, Ethiopia, South Sudan, and Rwanda with operations in Sub-Saharan Africa. It is founded on the conviction that STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) education, innovation acceleration, and Tech SMEs are crucial to Africa’s long-term development. STEMpower Inc. provides access to hands-on STEM education encouraging students and innovators to engineer their way out of poverty by strengthening their country’s technical workforce. To date, STEMpower Inc. has established over 90 STEM centers and 2 Fab-Labs.

Objective

The objective of this position is to provide comprehensive support for the development and implementation of curricula at STEM-centers as well as harmonization of training given at the centers. STEMpower believes the appropriate curriculum design should be in such a way to inspire young scientists and engineers to think about setting up businesses/ production lines through a start-small approach where they learn the basics of processes and systems.

Responsibilities

Duties and Responsibilities

Under the supervision of the Chief Executive Officer and the direction of the Board of Directors, the Education Officer will provide professional technical, operational and administrative assistance throughout the programming process for education programs/projects within the Pan African expansion program. This means the officer will engage from development planning to delivery of results; preparing, executing, managing and implementing a variety of technical and administrative program tasks to facilitate program development, implementation, progress monitoring, evaluating and reporting.

Additional education

• A Master’s Degree in education, psychology, sociology or other social science field is required.
• A university degree can be accepted coupled with several years of work experience

Experience

Additional experience

• A minimum of 2 years of professional experience in social development planning and management in education and related areas at the international and/or in a developing country is required.
• Relevant experience in education and related areas, program/project development and management in a CSO or NGO is an asset.

Language Requirements:

Fluency in English. Knowledge of French would be an asset
