Summary

The Finance Business Partner has a critical role in the sound financial management of Oxfam International by delivering, in conjunction with the Finance Business Partner team, effective business partner services to the Department and Units across OIS. The role supports the financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and analysis of
the OIS finances. This in turn provides insights to inform senior management decisions and improve performance.

Description

Budget and Forecast

  • Lead and manage the Department and Unit annual budgeting and forecasting process to ensure accurate and timely completion within agreed parameters.
  • Provide insightful value-add commentary and trend analysis on monthly and quarterly results ensuring clear and concise views on key underlying trends and financial insights.
  • Reviews budgets and forecasts to ensure they are realistic and risk factors have been adequately
  • Support the Finance Business Partner Manager as required.

Reporting and Analysis

  • Analyse Department and Unit financial performance and the sustainability of a range of projects/ initiatives and communicate as appropriate.
  • Identifies the evolving Department and Unit finance needs, providing proactive, reliable, and timely advice to inform management and operational decision-making.
  • Advise how financial goals being pursued align with OIS strategy.
  • Work with managers and teams, setting and evaluating criteria, such as returns, level of risk, or strategic interest for projects, programs of work and initiatives.
  • Provide quality and timely analytical support including preparation of periodic management accounts, presentations, and reports for management.
  • Provide professional, business-focused financial services to designated Department and Unit groups. Build strong working relationships based on credibility and open communication. Work with the other Finance
  • Business Partners to share good practice, ensure a broad consistency of approach, and provide coverage to other Business Partners as necessary.
  • Lead responsibility for the financial management aspects of organisation-wide initiatives and projects as agreed with Finance Business Partner Manager.
  • Be the key contact for Department and Unit budgeting and financial management reporting.

Finance Capacity Building

  • Take a coaching approach to facilitate effective, consistent, and empowering financial management capability - expecting and enabling managers to assume increasing responsibility for all aspects of finance management.
  • Identify financial capacity strengths and gaps across the client group and develop relevant financecapability building plans that support the client to deliver their objectives.
  • Work closely with the Finance team to support OIS statutory, Board and financial institutions’ reporting requirements in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Responsibility for developing adequate financial management capabilities of budget holders

Other Business Partner roles

  • Develop financial modelling to support business cases.
  • Work in partnership with Department management teams to identify the finance implications of strategic and operational plans and other developments. Promote effective ways of working and agree appropriate actions to maximise opportunities, support change and manage risk. Constructively challenge decisions which are not in the best interest of OIS.

Education

A bachelors degree in finance or a related field.

More Details on Experience

  • Appropriate accounting qualification supported by membership of a relevant professional body(e.g.,Chartered or Certified Accounting body)
  • Experience being part of a Finance Business Partner, Management Accounting or Financial Planning & Analysis team.
  • Experience in Business Partnering, Financial Management and stakeholder management. 
  • Experience developing and implementing finance policies, procedures, and systems.
  • Experience with an ERP finance system, Dynamics 365 preferred.
  • High levels of computer literacy with advanced proficiency in MS Excel.
